The Porro 2020 collection makes its debut in the Duriniquindici showroom and the brand is back to fascinate with its special vision of the world: an architectural viewpoint in the design of space and an ideal of beauty made up of pure forms, extremely precise workmanship and research into materials and technologies with a limited footprint on our planet, knowing that aesthetics is nothing if not based on extraordinary quality.

From the new straws included in the sample collection, ranging from very natural solutions with traditional weaves to more graphic and decorative effects, to textured paints obtained using the waste from rice cultivation, they are free of formaldehyde and can absorb CO2, thus contributing to the purification of the air, as well as to the luxury of streaked marbles and the lightness of soft shades such as off-white and sage green. Porro presents a visual and tactile collection, where the purity of design meets the continuous research on materials and a unique craftsmanship that skilfully complements high-tech industrial manufacturing.

Domestic proportions, precious applications, furnishings with a lived-in appearance: at the entrance, visitors are welcomed by the System bookcase and equipped wall system, designed by Piero Lissoni + Porro Research Centre, that changes its look through a new material and handcrafted design, i.e. the woven straw inserted on the back of the Grande Luce module. For a superior relaxation experience, the Frank Club armchair by Piero Lissoni upholstered in a vivid red fabric unites 3 distinct elements in a harmonious indissoluble whole: the soft, enveloping shell-shaped back, the solid, robust metal legs that gain momentum thanks to their variable circular section, and the padded seat with thick elastic straps.

In the retro-styled office space, the Pascal table by Piero Lissoni shows its luxurious soul with its new matt Calacatta oro marble top contrasting with the industrial wing structure in die-cast aluminium. It is combined with the Frank chairs by Piero Lissoni freely inspired by a French-styled déco that brings new comfort and expressive possibilities.

As the real core of the home, the Storage dressing room designed by Piero Lissoni + Porro Research Centre features fully transparent, open or closed spaces with glass doors alongside the transparent corner solution. The structure and the metal parts, in the new thinner profile, come in the cuvée finish, a sophisticated and precious colour that contributes to making the composition look even lighter.

In the matching room, the Storage back panels and fittings are in white cherry wood – the new light melamine finish that mimics the cherry wood grain, softening the rosy nuance with more neutral and universal tones –  with shelves at hand height covered in khaki eco-leather and the shoe rack with lighted angled shelves and the new shoe stop solution to prevent shoes from slipping off. In the centre, two Offshore drawer units by Piero Lissoni are presented for the first time in the soft version in off-white open-pore stained ash, in a perfect match with the Romby padded chair by GamFratesi with natural ash base.

Fascinating lifestyles, special finishes, concrete emotions: Porro brings its very personal style to the bedroom as well. A textile bed with an intimate and compact shape, the new Byron bed by Piero Lissoni consists of 3 elements: the padded bed frame slightly raised from the floor, the soft headboard cushions where you can linger reading before falling asleep, and the screen at the bottom of the bed that seems to embrace the space and protect the rest with a black-stained solid ash frame that encloses a straw weave featuring a graphic black and white houndstooth pattern. A classic Porro item like the Load-It bookcase designed by Wolfgang Tolk in 1995 creates a material picture on the wall, thanks to the steel shelves and the black stained canneté wall panels featuring a succession of horizontal and vertical stripes.

Halfway between a walk-in closet and an open wardrobe, characterized by modular wall panels on which to hang the various equipment, Storage Boiserie designed by Piero Lissoni + Porro Research Centre is new in its design thanks to the combination with the new Porro doors in glass, wood, lacquer or melamine. Large backdrops that open up to reveal a refined secret space, where Storage Boiserie features back panels covered in grey fabric, for an impeccable masculine elegance, from which the lighted glass shelves and the base, the shelves and the new black sugi melamine chest of drawers with glass top emerge as architectural volumes.

Downstairs, the corridor is entirely dedicated to the Load-It bookcase with a mirror in the middle and wall panels in steel, not treated with paint but protected with beeswax. It is presented in the versions with and without shelves or completed by the Modern suspended top in santos rosewood, with the Romby padded chair by GamFratesi with black stained ash base, which turns it into a refined home office area.

In the large living area around the Ferro low table by Piero Lissoni in bronze, you can nicely have a conversation on the Curry sofas by Piero Lissoni that combine a geometric matrix, the trapezoidal shape, with an oriental inspiration: the structure in solid black stained ash that becomes the frame for the backrest in black dyed woven Vienna straw, in a perfect combination of design and craftsmanship. Kite Sofa by GamFratesi fits perfectly into the living space with its plastic fan shape.

A large Modern hanging composition designed by Piero Lissoni + Porro Research Centre captures the eye, lifted off the ground and combined with a Verde Rameggiato marble board that leaves a large space in the lower part, to be used for a window or a fireplace. With the visual effect of an entirely closed and tightly-packed wall, reminiscent of the traditional Japanese home, this very large storage area is enlivened by the nice graphic interplay of the doors made of heat-treated oak, a strongly textured wood type in contrast with the soft sage green colour chosen for the interiors of the glass cabinets – with a metal frame painted in the same colour – which emerge as contemplative voids in the composition. In the centre, perfectly hidden, the TV compartment pops up only in moments of leisure, thanks to the new large vertical sliding door in black canneté.

Beyond the Ex Libris bookcase, the Materic table by Piero Lissoni changes its look thanks to an upside-down assembly, where the black-stained ash typically used for the base is now used for the top – a dark textured surface interrupted only by the flush tray in the middle. The conical base is skilfully made of stainless steel, resulting in an extraordinary visual impact in-between glamour, industrial and futurist look. Around it, the Pioggia chairs by Piero Lissoni, featuring tapered legs in black stained ash and a padded seat covered in sage green linen fabric of excellent craftsmanship.
The Gallery Low Cupboard by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti adds to the fascination of the room, with its matt Calacatta oro marble top. A plain, rational architectural volume closed by a single dark green glossy lacquered door, which slides downwards to reveal a black lacquered interior with a mirrored back panel, suitable for storing dishes and as a bar cabinet.

A dining room with a strong character features the Jeff table by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti in the version with oval tabletop in solid chestnut and curvilinear, glossy blue steel bases, along with the Voyage chairs by GamFratesi with natural maple or black stained frame and tightly-fitted leather covering, skilfully cut and sewn.

The journey ends in the Storage wardrobe with fittings in mongoi melamine, with its typical trunk look. By mixing and matching different solutions and styles – the hinged wardrobe with moon white Piana door and Boite Aux handle, the corner walk-in closet, the coplanar wardrobe – it highlights the superior ability achieved by Porro in furnishing the space, in streamlining the shapes and in ensuring maximum elegance and functionality in every project.

Porro Duriniquindici, via Durini 15, Milano
“PURE ARCH & CRAFT”
Allestimento: Piero Lissoni
Nuovi prodotti: Piero Lissoni, GamFratesi
