Surfaces – Concept Piero Lissoni
On landing on more or less known shores, it is the surfaces, a grass mantle compared to a desert, a reef compared to a beach, that dictate the first sensation a traveller has.
And it is this first sensation that awakens the curiosity to discover all that lies behind.
This metaphor has been the idea that this year, has prompted Piero Lissoni, long-standing art director at Porro, to focus the attention on everything that lies behind the surface.
Not only because this is solely and entirely an aesthetic factor that is quickly and easily legible, but to signify the symbiosis between surfaces and contents, both for the characteristics of use that a product must have, and for the worlds of reference that Porro intends to address, with its own systems rather than with the accessories in the collection.
If in recent editions the reflection on forms and materials has concerned above all the latter, and it has borne fruits, contributing to projecting the company among the names most followed in the furnishing sector, it is now the systems, the company’s core production, that return to being its preferred object of study, to be analyzed from multiple perspectives.
Flexible structures capable of modulating the space, for 2009 are transformed into their essence, sometimes favouring a technical aspect, the experimentation with new, highly resistant materials that are more suited to working environments, sometimes a natural aspect, the use of wood in its material consistence, and finally, the decorative aspect, where the decoration is not understood as a Baroque superimposition, but as a conceptual approach closely associated with the object.
Natural woods, coloured metals, black and white decorations, contrasts of shiny and matt: diverse notes follow freely in succession in the Porro spaces, to then be recomposed in a harmonious score.
Whether a private residence or an office, a hotel room or a restaurant, for this year the company proposes interiors with eclectic designs but “soft” taste, pleasant refuges where you can always feel at your ease.
